Scholarship

The club has two separate scholarship programs. They are the Whupper Lee Scholarship Endowment and the Coweta – Fayette Annual Scholarship. Gifts to the endowment fund total $13, 025. The club has until January 2012 to complete funding of the endowment in the amount of $25,000. This leaves $11,975 or $2,400 per year.

Upon complete funding of the scholarship it will be awarded to: (i) a Coweta – Fayette resident with a minimum 3.0 GPA with a minimum 29 ACT score or equivalent on SAT and demonstrate a financial need. If a student with a financial need cannot be identified, the financial need criteria can be waived. The scholarship will pay one third of out of state tuition.

Upon full funding the scholarship will be awarded in perpetuity. By donating another $25,000 a second scholarship can be funded. One of the goals of the founders was to fund at least two endowment scholarships so that a scholarship could be awarded to a student from both Coweta County and Fayette County.

The Annual Scholarship was begun this year through the donations of two individuals. (Names to be added ). This scholarship can be awarded each year to a worthy student. The club can choose each year to fund the scholarship in an amount it desires.

Scholarship Update

One of the club's major priorities is to reach our goal of $25,000 in the endowment fund so that we can offer a scholarship to a deserving student from our area. We are receiving more and more inquiries from students and parents regarding this as out of state tuition climbs and the economy declines! The fund is now near $17,000 and soon we hope to help a student attend Auburn University.

Thank you to all who have donated to this worthy cause in the past. Times are tough, which makes giving that much tougher. So, for any donation made to our scholarship fund in 2009 of $50 or more, we will send you a new Club t-shirt designed and printed by Tiger Rags. This is a $18 value which you can wear proudly, or even give as a gift to a friend or student.
